 In 1900, British Hadfield (R.A. Hadfield) and others first discovered that Si-Fe alloy containing Si4% has good magnetic properties. In 1903, Germany and the United States successively produced hot rolled silicon steel sheets containing 1.0% to 4.5% Si. In 1906, it replaced low carbon steel and was used to manufacture motor and transformer cores. In 1934, the US Goss (N.P. Goss) used two cold rolling methods to make (110) [001] grain oriented cold-rolled silicon steel sheets containing Si3%. In 1968, Japan ’s Taguchi et al. Used a comprehensive inhibitor of manganese sulfide and aluminum nitride and used a large reduction cold rolling method to produce (110) [001] highly magnetically oriented silicon steel. The grain orientation of this material is more accurate , Iron loss and magnetic properties are further improved. Over the years, the schematic curve of the decrease in the iron loss value of silicon steel is shown in Figure 1.
In 1949, the United States made cold-rolled (110) [001] oriented thin silicon steel strip with a thickness of less than 0.1 mm for the electronics industry. In 1957, Federal Republic of Germany made (100) [001] cubically oriented silicon steel sheets, which have a high magnetic aspect ratio, but due to the complicated process, they have not been officially produced yet. The following figure is a schematic diagram of grain arrangement in (110) [001] and (100) [001] oriented silicon steel sheets. The magnetostriction of Si-Fe alloy containing 6.5% of silicon is about zero, the magnetic permeability is high, the iron loss is low, the transformer made is noiseless, but it is not widely used because of the difficulty in processing. In the 1970s, liquid rapid cooling technology was used to make 6.5Si-Fe microcrystalline thin strips, and new varieties of thinner oriented silicon steel sheets and (100) surface texture (non-crystalline orientation) silicon steel sheets were developed.
China began producing hot-rolled low-silicon silicon steel sheets (Si1 ~ 2%) in 1953; started producing hot-rolled high-silicon silicon steel sheets (Si3.0 ~ 4.5%) in 1955; and started producing cold-rolled oriented thin silicon steel strips in 1962. In the 1970s, production of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel strip began.
